You don’t need to be a DBT therapist to use the skills. DBT has a rich and varied set of skills we can teach directly to clients.

The Day

This is a practical one day course for those wanting to know more about DBT and how to incorporate skills training groups into their practice. The day combines an overview of the content of the four DBT Skills modules:

  • Mindfulness
  • Crisis Survival
  • Emotion Regulation
  • Interpersonal Skills

The evidence shows skills training alone can be highly effective, even for people with severe problems. The course will show the basic principles of how to run a skills group or individual skills training, with case discussion and practical demonstrations of running a group.

What you will learn

  • The basic content of the skills taught in DBT and how to use them in your own therapy
  • The three principles of skills training
  • How to set up and run a skills group
  • How to incorporate skills training into individual therapy
